Howdy , Do es anyone here have or are you familiar with the thumb release on a New England single shot 30-30? This is a model SB2 "Handi rifle" Seems to be a great all purpose begainers /womens.etc. My concern is that it really rettles ...the thumg break button/lever. Is this normel? I just need to be sure that it is safe to even shoot. All repleys appreciated. Steve[:)]

To say it is safe with out actually looking at it would be foolish. If it just jiggles, but takes force to unlock the barrel, then I would assume it is safe. But I think you should have it checked out by your gunsmith. It could have a worn latch lock spring.

Moons ago I had 3 or 4 of those handi-rifles in various configurations and my nephew has a new one in 30-30, NONE of them rattle(d)... just FYI.

Thanks alot rmill. I'll have to take it in for a check up to see why the thumb release is sooooloose and rattles soooo bad. Steve
