I.ve been researching wolf ammo. Is it as bad as many seem to say? I am looking to plink some off to get a feel for the weapon. It is real tempting @ .16 per rnd. HaS anyone had any experience with wolf ammo?

For a SKS it is probably just as equal as surplus...

I would shoot them all day long in an SKS/AK, that's what they were made for. From my limited experience with Wolf, I found it tends to be a tad bit dirtier than some of the other stuff I've shot, but I clean my firearms regularly anyway so that isn't a problem.

Most of the problems people seem to face with the Wolf ammo is shooting it in tight tolerance firearms like AR-15's. I don't shoot them in my AR (I know those that do though), but have shot many over the years out of SKS's with no problems. I say go for it.

It's basically the same as what the commy block countries used to issue. It will do just fine in your SKS. In other weapons systems it is questionable at best and often recommended against by the MFG. Buy it cheap and shoot it often in your rifle and don't forget to enjoy.

That is all i shoot in aks/ sks
I have shot 4 or 5 thousand rounds, NEVER had any probs (not even a ammo cause stoppage)
THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE DESIGNED TO SHOOT!
you will get better accuracy and reliability with wolf than the 7.62 american ammo that is .308 insteal of the combloc .311

It's very good ammo. Getting better all the time. Up to SAAMI and priced right. Wolf and Silver Bear, Golden Bear, and Brown Bear are very very good brands for the SKS and AK rifles. Both brands are made new in the same factories that supply the eastern bloc militaries, with the Russian army being included. IT'S WHAT YOU WANT!!! Anybody who says different is full of it. Misinformation, that is![:D][8D][:D]

I use Wolf ammo often. It's reliable and cheap but a bit dirty. I shoot Wolf .223, 9 mm, and .45 ACP. I would not use it in a tight action such as a Remington 700, however.

I want to thank all you guys for the responses. I am definetly going to order a case and enjoy shooting, especially since I don't have to pay $.50 pr rnd.

    Thanks again and happy shooting.

That's all I've ever shot out of my Yugo. Nary a problem.

I keep about 5000 ronds of it on hand at all times for my AK and SKS. It is all I ever shoot out of them.

As mentioned earlier, these guns love it due to the looser tolerances that these guns have.

I (as most on these forums) also clean mine very regular, but I know some who shoot wolf and don't. They don't have any problems either.

    Buy it up and enjoy!

I am currently shooting it for my SKS. I am also doing an experiment; not cleaning the gun. The only high power rifle I have ever done this on, though sometimes I don't clean the bore on my Stainless 10/22.... anyhow, I check it for rust once a week. I'm 300 rounds in, it's still working fine, and there is no rust, so it must be good stuff! (I will clean it when it starts to gum up and not work, if ever)

Mine likes the 154gr soft point stuff.

Wolf ammo is perfectly safe to use in an SKS.
