I have a Remington Rolling Block 7M/M thats was rebarreled by Sedgley,I bought the rifle from my father in 1981 an he had owned it for ever it seems,Was Sedgley a big outfit? Any information? Just curious,thanks rcarlboxer

    Yes, "R.F." Sedgley was a large "outfit". I am not sure exactly when they began business, or when they shutdown, but they were very busy throughout the 1920s and 1930s.

    R. F. Sedgley was in business in Philadelphia from prior to the First World War, until at least the mid/late 1930's. He was a custom gunmaker who specialized in reworking/sporterizing ex military rifles. He also made small revolvers and flare pistols. During this time frame he was very well known in the firearms community for his work. Although some folks had reservations concerning the safety of some of his conversions, particularly the Mosin Nagants that were converted to 30-06.
