No- WRF is Winchester Rimfire (aka 22 Special) The other is WRFM Winchester Rimfire Magnum. WRF is an older cartridge, out of production for some time. Has larger case diameter than LR, shorter than 22 Mag. WRF used lead bullets, Mag uses jacketed bullets. Even if a mag will go into a WRF firearm, don't try to shoot it. Think the term is "catastrophic disassembly".

Close, but not quite correct. CCI still manufactures 22 W.R.F. ammo, and it is made with a 45 grain jacketed bullet. 22 W.R.F. ammo can be shot in any firearm factory chambered for the more modern 22 WRM but not vice versa (the WRF is .10" shorter than the WRM).

As for gruntled's comment quote:There isn't likely to be any reason to shoot the .22 wrf out of a .22 mag anymore but when the .22 mag first came out the .22 wrf ammo was a good deal cheaper.
I disagree. 22 WRF ammo offers a bullet weight and velocity not offered in the 22 WMR. Check out the following links...

In all cases, the 22 WRF ammo is less expensive... hence a good alternative to shoot in a 22 WMR chambered firearm.

A quote from the CCI web site: "DO NOT use 22 WRF ammo in firearms chambered for 22 Rimfire Magnum (22WRF)"
And they state that for just two reasons...
1. Legal liability in a lawsuit happy world.
2. They make more money by selling you the WMR ammo.
There is no safety concern what-so-ever in shooting WRF ammo in a WMR chamber... it is the same thing as shooting 22 Short or 22 Long in a 22 Long Rifle chamber.
