Anyone have one-seen one ?
Looking to buy one for the wife.
I currently carry a Thunder 380 when I have the ol' Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirt, and I love it.
Just seen the new conceal carry model on their website, looks pretty good so I figured i'd ask here first

Personally, I prefer the P-64 (origional or lightened mainspring) over the Bersa guns, hands down. The 9x18 is more powerful, the fit and finish is way better, and the P-64 is astonishingly accurate.

Now for the big point: The P-64 is cheaper by half! Twice the gun for half the money![8D][:)][8D]

Here is a comparison image with the 9x18 Makarov round on the left, vs. the .380, on the right:

That was HPs, here's the FMJ comparison:

Go to this link for some terrific factual information on my suggestion, which also includes a very friendly and user friendly discussion forum where the growing throng of P-64 lovers post regularly and helpfully to bring the unacquainted out of the dark cloud of misinformation that surrounds this great little handgun:

Who makes the P-64? The manufacturer's name obviously isn't "Polish"

I love mine. sharp recoil and heavy trigger though, but much nicer than the bersas.
They are surplus, will be marketed und "polish p-64"

I have both the Bersa Thunder .380 and the Polish P-64. I like the Bersa better. The trigger spring on the P-64 is very brittle, my original one broke after 150 rounds. So I would not rely on it for self defense. Yes, I agree it is very accurate. But also consider it may have a hefty recoil for a woman's small hands, not to mention the VERY heavy trigger pull in double action. Go with the Bersa, with luck you can get it for around $200.

I have not owned p-64 but love my Bulgarian Makarov. I used to have a Bersa .380 and it shot nice groups and seemed very reliable also. Don't know about the p-64 but Makarovs are dang near indestructable. You might try to find one of them instead. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Bersa if you go that route either. Best of luck and if youre going to arm your wife be nice to her.

I don't know about someones' experience with one particular pistol, but I've got 4 P-64s and have fired hundreds of rounds through them and have had no spring failures. The double-action pull is heavy and was designed that way. You can get PPK mainsprings from Wolff in the 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 pound rating and customize the trigger pull to your liking. With shooting and proper maintenance, the origional DA pull will become easier and smoother. Most who learn to use the pistol properly do their shooting with the crisp single-action pull, though. It's more powerful than the .380, and very compact, but with the proper ammunition, the recoil isn't any problem.

All of you who are relaying old opinions and heresay about the P-64 need to go here:

and start with "bZinggg's Introductory Post" in the Modifications, Fixes and Repairs Section and start learning about this great handgun. Read lots of posts and learn what many, many people who actually own, carry and depend on the P-64 have to say about it.

Here's a C&P directly from the forum about how women react to shooting the P-64:

    Daughter-in-law and the P-64
    ? Thread Started on Oct 3, 2006, 8:42pm ?

My daughter-in-law took a gun class and ask me if I would take her shooting. I took a 22 for her, 3 32s and the P-64 for my son and I. We started her off on the 22 and the 32s while my son and I had a shooting contest with the P-64. She wanted to shoot the P-64 but my son told her it kicked too hard. Well, she shot the P-64, a 1911, and a S&W 500, then called us sissies for complaining about the kick. She said she liked the P-64 best so I ordered her one from SOG and some pink grips from Zeeborg.

Also check out the FEG PA63. Also 9x18 and look a little nicer than the P-64. Same 9x18 caliber.

For the wife, I would recommend you get her a DAO S&W 38spl.
Don't know how into guns she is but the 38spl will be easier and less complicated for her to handle.

The Bersa Thunder CC is the same as your regular thunder excelt with thinner grips. It is a very sleak and flat gun. If you like your thunder you'll love the CC model, it carries better and feels good in your hand.

I also have a Bersa thunder .380. It is a very good conseal carry gun. I normaly cary a .45, but when the weather gets warm I go to the Bersa as it will fit in my front pants pocket.

It shoots good groups, and has never jammed or missfired.

I paid $200 for mine about 5 months ago NIB.
