how much would a century arms R1A1 go for? im thinking about selling mine but im no sure of the price. its in vg-exc. condition. the rifling is strong and the rifle has no scratches. the action works flawlessly. i have aftermarket forearm and pistol grip. i also will sell it with (11) 20rd. pre-ban magazines (metric). it will be shipped in a bushmaster hard plastic case. how much do you think i should sell all this for? thanks

Is the reciever marked IMBEL anywhere? That will definately help sell it if it does.

New US Built FAL's of different flavor are going for retail from 900 to 1500, depending on the model. Inch patterns are popular, I would not think it out of line for the rifle you described to list for 900 to 1100 range. Take good pictures of the rifle and the extras. Give a little history of the R1A1. Don't use stock photos, take your own and try to make them as clear as you can. Set a good opening bid, alot of people don't/won't bid on hidden reserves. Then let it run. I would even rerun it if it didn't sell the 1st time. If you are not in a hurry, just be patient and you can get what it's worth.

    Good luck!

I have one of those as well. I know there were many different guns put out by Centuary Arms but I can not tell you what is what. Most of the Centuary stuff is not considerd "high quailty" but I have not had any problems with mine. The Centuary sells becuase its half the price of a DSA or FN gun. Do a search here on GB and see what they are going for. I would think that $6-700 may be in line but havent checked lately.

Mine is not marked IMBEL either but it is one of the later guns(probably like yours) that were very good and well built on a quality Century receiver. I have shot mine extensively without the slightest problem. It is scoped, very accurate and reliable. I wouldn't consider taking less than $750 for yours, especially considering the extras you have. I think it is worth more than that. Seattlefungus had some good suggestions. Take your time if you can. Patience is a virtue when selling, much more so than when buying.

Agreed. Had the EXACT same gun in the exact same condition as you have, excellent, and auctioned it here this last year started at $1, no reserve, and it brought around $660 if I remember correctly.

Metric or inch, imbel reciever or century, hows it function, what are the US parts on it (need 6 or 7), etc.

ALl that being said, I paid $575 for mine last year...

Give a little history of the R1A1.

History of the R1A1??????? R1A1 is a name Century pulled out of their * when they started building FAL's.

So it isn't an Imbel, that leaves three other choices. Is the Receiver marked made in Canada by chance? If so it is probably an Argentine receiver, and of very high quality.

Is it marked "Hesse"? If so it is of questionable quality, but if it works properly now it is probably OK(very, very, low desire here).

Otherwise it is a Century US receiver, much less desirable than all but the Hesse(however there are two distinct versions of Centuries US receiver, You can tell by the shape of the feed ramp. The "Unibrow", is the older less desirable one, and the "Widows Peak" which is the newer one which follows FN's original design more closely).

$500-600 is about right for price assuming it has the proper US compliance parts, and runs right.

The mags are worth $3-5 each, unless they are new, then they are worth $10 or so.
