BOSS settings for Win 70 in .300 Weatherby?

Hi,

I've got a Win Model 70 classic stainless in .300 Weatherby mag. with the BOSS that we've never shot. Time to to see how it shoots. I'm looking for the suggested BOSS settings for various Weatherby factory loads with 130 to 200 grain bullets. Neither the Browning nor Winchester sites have recommended settings for .300 Weatherby rifles. Anyone know where to find that data? With what they cost I hate to waste more Weatherby shells than are necessary to get this gun shooting.

Thanks!

Just to many variables for each and every gun to have any particular setting that will work for every rifle.. You need to touch off some of that high dollar Weatherby ammo and find your rilfes own sweet spot...

The whole idea for the boss is based on barrel length and the harmonics introduced when the bullet travels down the barrel and the recoil forces exerted on the gun. Browning found that most rifles could be made to shoot better if the barrel was shortened slightly when they came back to the repair facility for poor accuracy. This was trial and error and did not always work. Unfortunately the boss works the same way- trial and error. On top of that different weights of the bullet will likely result in different settings so it is good advice to write it down. One attempt to deal with this problem is the step barrel on the k-98 and the steps were for the 150gr (approx) military bullet weight. And of course velocity has a similar effect so you should use the loads you are going to hunt with.

    Buano,
The BOSS suggested "sweet spot" for .300 Weatherby Mag. is as follows (Data is taken from sporter barrel):

    150 grains BOSS setting 3.0
    180 grains BOSS setting 7.4

Those are the only grains/settings listed.

Hopefully, this will save you some ammo. I know that when I sighted in my Winchester 70 classic featherweight with the BOSS system, it was grouping so tightly at the recommended "sweet spot" setting for .270 Win, I didn't even bother to experiment with further 'tweaking'. I found their recommendations to be 'spot on' for my featherweight barrel. Have fun sighting in.

I'll post a link or a pic of the actual "Sweet Spots" chart in a little bit.
I can't recall my photo bucket id/pw, so I just posted the pics in an auction.
Here ya go, Buano, just so you can see for yourself...
