I just purchased a Colt 1849. It is in OK shape. Ive definately seen worse. The Cylinder is sloppy on the shaft. Is there supposed to be a busing like the Colt Single Actions?

I have a opportunity to purchase a colt 1849, 110,000 serial range. I have no knowledge of these except what I have found on Internet. 4" barrel. Cylinder scene is 90% very sharp, bluing on barrel 50%, everything is tight. No pictures. The bottom by the trigger guard is patina. The owner stated that it is silver plate and was patinia. Everything looks original. He is asking $ 1200.00 Is this in the price range of these?

No, there's no bushing. It's probably just worn.

As far as I can tell, no black powder cap and ball revolvers had a cylinder bushing. If you have access to a lathe, you can turn one to custom fit the gun.

There is so much play in this thing that there is room for a bushing. I guess Ill make one. Are these guns valuable in 50% condition?

In addition to condition and the amount of engraving left on its cylinder and matching serial numbers, the value of your gun depends on when it was made. Its age can be determined by its serial number.
A '49 made before the Civil War is worth significantly more than one made after the war.

A 50% condition 1849 Colt would be worth a fair amount. The majority of the ones I see grade around %5- 10%, with an average selling price in the $700- $900 range.
