Very Special Model 71 Winchester

Well, this one is a bit different. I have a Winchester model 71 serial number 38806. A nice rifle in of itself. What makes this particular gun so special is that it has gold and silver inlays on the receiver. It has a train (gold train with silver or white gold tracks) on each side. and 3 gold flowers on each side along with one gold flower on the bottom by the serial number. I've had a very hard time finding information on this gun. Winchester informed me that they had a fire and lost most of their documents. I'm hoping that someone here may have any information on this gun.

I poster a pic here: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z188/red25th_4banger/appleorchardgunpics009.jpg
Thanks

    Hello,

Unfortunately the news is not so good... none of the gold and silver inlay work is factory original, nor is the crude checkering on the stocks. Somebody with rudimentary skills and some time on their hands altered the rifle. Speaking of the rifle, it was manufactured several years after WW II ended, and it is a standard Sporting Rifle.
