Winchester 1885 in 32 SCF?

Looked at an 1885 today as I've been trying to find one in shootable condtion at a reasonable price for awhile. This one looked ok and was priced right but the top of the barrel was marked 32 SCF. I don't know much about 1885s but don't remember seeing that cartridge mentioned with 1885s or, for that matter, any other rifle. The folks at the Cabelas where it is didn't know anything about it either. I decided it had probably been rebarreled and left it. . .but thought I'd ask the experts; looked for the SN but didn't see one. Maybe 32 Stevens Center Fire? Thanks for any info.
Definitely not 32 WCF which is what I expected it to be; clearly stamped 32 SCF. If its still there the next time I'm in I'll get
the SN and more details.
Thanks MP; doesn't seem to be a lot of that stocked at Wally World. . .or brass for reloading either. Nice to know what it is though.

There is no such thing as a "32 SCF"... at least as it relates to a Winchester Model 1885 Single Shot Rifle. Are you sure that it was not actually 32 "WCF"? The 32 WCF was a very common cartridge chambering in the Model 1885.
The serial number is located on the lower tang behind the lever, and forward of the rearmost screw (stock screw).
With the serial number, I can determine exactly what caliber it originally left the factory as.

A link to the auction page gets zapped here.
It's a .32 Short Centerfire you can see one at auction-arms no. 8744246.

I learned something new today... and that is a good thing! That said, and having nearly completed a complete detailed caliber survey of the Model 1885, none of them are listed in that cartridge.
