One rg has the serial number on it "main"(where the cylinder goes)right side of frame, BUT another one has it serial number on what I call the GRIP frame(the bottom of the grip frame). I saw another one with NO serial numbers at all(not a scatch on it anywhere)Only the barrel saying it's cal.????? What is it with RG's (I know POS GUNS) Just weird?

Some of the RG revolvers were BLANK guns. Some of those wound up with a bored thru barrel. Some of those did not have a SN. They made great paperweights, but please do not put ammo in one. You might fire it by accident.

Many were made before 1968, when serial numbers (and SN placement) were not required.

If I remember, didn't RG, FIE, Etc. STOP inporting WHOLE guns into the U.S. around 1968's?? The ONLY starter rg I have seen are those AUTO looking style cap/tear gas guns? Thanks for all info.

The requirements of the Gun Control Act of 1968, i.e. U.S. law, enacted by congress stopped their importation.

I got to agree that the RG without a SN is probably a drilled blank firing revolver. I can't see a .22 one getting into the country with out a SN. Check to see if their is any rifling in the barrel, that will be the tip-off.

Look on the side and to the rear of top strap. Some are very faint, but the numbers are there. RG put serial numbers on both the top strap and the butt.
