Any information on a 2 3/4 power scope made by Kollmorgen optical Corp
I believe it was made in the 1958 time frame.

Thanks

Phil

The Scope Book notes that Kollmorgan only sold scopes under their own "Bear Cub" name between 1956 & 59.

Yours was the lowest magnification of the (4) models offered.

The book places a value, (2000), on your scope between $60 & $125.

They were excellent scopes in their time. The company was bought out by Redfield. I like to use them on vintage rifles, but they require 26mm rings which is a bother.

Kollmorgan also made a 26mm USMC sniperscope marked USMC-1 in the post Korea, pre Vietnam period.
While it didn't see action, it is a HOT item with collectors.
    I had one that I sold a few years back for $1000 - a lot for a $40 scope.

V35, do you have any photos of the 26MM USMC sniperscope, Model USMC-1?

If V35 can't supply photos, it appears identical to the 4x Kollmorgen Bear Cub available anywhere, except the markings will show a Federal stock number rollstamped into the bell. (And it will have fine crosshairs-without the Lee dot).

It's the USMC stamp and stock number that changes it from a $150 scope to a $900-$1200 scope. Best, Joe

I see this is an old thread.
Yes, I have an article on USMC scopes which I can mail you.
    Send your address to 1flybob@comcast.net.
I believe Kollmorgen may have sold scopes under their own name to the Govt and later joined up with Stith Mounts who had the Bearcub line. One I have left carries both Kollsman Optical, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Stith Mounts Texas markings.
It has a 26mm body as did the USMC-1 and tapered post with crosshair.
