S&W original K Sq. butt grips

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice or website connection. I believe that I have a 1980 S&W .357 Mag. I am trying to find original stock grips for a K-frame sq. butt. I want factory replacement that is new from this year. What I have is a dark wood checkered grip. I want OEM because this firearm has a police badge engraved on one side. I do not want aftermarket grips that will cover this stamping.

Also, was this firearm direct from S&W with the badge stamped ?

Thanks,
Adam

If you post pictures, or provide the serial number, someone will be able to give you information about your specific revolver. If you have an interest in S&W firearms you'll find the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (third edition) by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas to be invaluable. Available, I think, from Amazon.com and sometimes your local gun dealer.

If you have a "K" frame .357 its likely a model 19. It would have originally came with Goncalo alves checkered target stocks with either the extractor refief cut or the speed loader cut.

The badge would be something done after the gun left that factory.

The best place to find S&W grips is NAZebay [;)]

It could also be a Model 66. Grips for the "K" and "L" frames are the same. I am pretty sure that by 1980 all Magnum Target grips had the speed loader relief on the left side. Check the auction side for original S&W target grips. They were checkered in the most common form, but some were smooth. All had the S&W medallion at the top on both sides.

I've got a set of NOS S+W grips that may be correct for your revolver. I'll get a couple pictures up later today and let the experts decide.
