My step father recently passed away and I was going though his guns with my mom and he has a savage fox 20ga side by side series h model a vent rib barrel. The gun appears in like new condition I do not think it has been fired if it has not very much,no scratchs or dings.
I have been told the value is around $600.00 does this seem correct.
Thanks

No, $600 is way low for a fox 20ga. with a vent rib. Is it a fox savage?....oops my bad just saw title...

Condition is going to determine....got a photo?

You didn't indicate if this is a single trigger or double but in the described condition either should be in the $800-$1000 range. Of course this is dependant on the actual condition but the 20 gauge guns are very desireable.

Around here (upstate NY) a 20ga. Savage Fox goes for twice as much as a 12ga.
Any solid well made double is worth more in the smaller guages around here.

It is a double trigger and like new I showed it to a guy at gun store and he was amazed at the condition and said he did not think it had been fired.he offered $400.00 for a trade in but I said no I think I need to put it on here on there auction site to get the most out of it.

Fox/Savage gun came after the merger of the A.H. Fox company with Savage arms. There were several models of the Fox/Savage.

The Model A came in 12,16,20, and .410. They were not fancy just plain jane double with no ribs and double triggers. Double Ejectors

The Model B was an up grade they came with double or single triggers however the single triggers were not selective.

The Fox B-Se was the double barrel with selective triggers and would eject the spent casings based on what barrel had been fired where the other models would eject both barrels wether fired or not.

All came with fixed chokes Full Full / Full Modified / Modified Improved cylinder

The B Se model had very fancy woods and excellent finish with nice scroal checkering.

Down side to these shot gun today are that they are fixed chokes , Only 2 3/4 shells and DO NOT use steel shot. I have a total of 8 different configerations in my collection

PS. Hint Store your Fox Shotgun with the muzzle down This prevents oils grease and dirt fron getting into the action and soaking into the stock which will crack if to much oil soaks into it.
