Guns Of Navarrone movie..sniperscope question

Greetings: Joe (givette) here. In the movie Guns of Navarrone Anthony Quinn is filmed sniping German troops advancing up a hill. Does anyone remember the scene? The movie? His scope reticle (crosshairs) didn't converge at the center, instead there was an open circle in the center of the reticle. My question to the experts forum is..has anyone any idea of the scope manufacturer? I'd like to get the same scope, or, if not, at least a scope with the same reticle setup. (I'm not talking about a lighted red dot here. Picture, if you will, the NATO cartridge headstamp symbol, only with the cross outside the circle, not inside it. Any movie buffs out there? Rgds, Joe.

Not sure about that one (may actualy be a "Hollyweird" special effect), but have you looked at the Shepherd scopes and their retical?

Joe, riflescope & submarine periscope views in the movies are filmed using special effects, not the real thing.

And, sniper rifles are rarely accurately represented in the movies, not even the 1903A4 in Saving Private Ryan.

The movie used 2 different scopes on the 1903A4, neither of which was used during WWII. The only scopes issued during the war were the Weaver 330C, or USGI contract variants of that scope, the M8 & M73B1.

The last time I saw a scope with a "circle" reticle, it was on a AUG rifle. Far as I know, none of the current made commercial scopes have that type of reticle? If your willing to pay for it with a enough money, I'm sure you will be able to find somebody in the optical business who will do it for you.

Movie scope reticles have no actual aiming point in the middle so as to not obscure the hero as the villain takes aim at him.

There are a multitude of reticle designs these days but you have to spend some time looking at the individual manufacturers choices. You may not find the exact reticle that you remember but there are a couple that are reasonbly close. I did locate a couple of basic example from more than one maker:
