Compliance parts again

I have asked this question before on various forums and never had a distinct answer. Here goes again.

Would homemade parts like stock, pistol grip, mag floor plate qualify as US made compliance parts if made in the US?

ATF has never published a ruling on this, but common sense tells me that this would be OK. If you are really concerned, request an opinion letter from them.

But, be realistic. The fellas with the bulges in the cheap suits are too busy running down terrorists to bother law abiding gun owners about the country of origin of (mostly) unmarked gun parts.

Home made parts are fine. You can't refinish a foreign part and call it a US part though.

I have made stocks, pistol grips, hand guards, FAL sears, and gas Pistons.

I'd not count on mag parts for your compliance.... I figure that if the ATF can call a shoelace a machinegun, they can claim you were planning on using a EFM (evil foriegn made) mag/mag parts at some point...
