I have a 1972 Browning BSS with some areas of light pitting in the barrels. Will this affect the shootability of this gun? Thanks

I have seen some barrels with pitting that shot just fine.
Polish the bore and keep it well cleaned and try to maintain it from further deterioration and it should be okay.

depending on the damage, if its real light your fine. But if its bad, the guns done.

The pits will not affect the shooting ability, but you will get lots of residue hung up in them.
You could take a cleaning rod mop wrapped with some 600 grit wet-dry sandpaper and gently hone the barrel to clean it up.
A gunsmith would have a rod with abrasive balls on it that would do a better job, but you sure can do it at home if your careful.

Thanks all. I didn't have any 600 grit but had some 400. Worked great. Most of the pitting polished right out.
