A freind of mine has a ruger 12 ga woodside like new he wants to trade me for my browning 12 ga lighting grade 1. mine is like new also. The ruger is lighter than the browning by a 1lb.I was told they don't make the woodside any longer and am wondering if this would be a good trade. My friend said he doesn't like the ruger.

I think the price wise it would be even, but I wouldn't trade a Browning for a Ruger O/U

No brainer, keep the Browning. Among other things the felt recoil will be greater on a 1 pound lighter shotgun. Rugers have crappy triggers. If it were a swell deal for you would he want to trade?

    boltaction,

I wouldn't trade without some cash compensation as duckhunter suggested. Better yet if you want to keep a friend a friend don't trade and cause some commotion between you. Especially if you like your shotgun. Just state you don't want to trade. period. You certainly have what I consider to be the better shotgun. Shoot it and enjoy it and don't let anyone tell you it needs to be gone. As mentioned on another post, the only bad deals I've made on guns is the ones I watched go away that I wanted to keep. -good luck
