Remington 673 trigger adjustment

Is it very difficult to adjust the trigger on a 673? Is it possible that I, as an owner could adjust it, or should I leave it to a gunsmith.

    hadjii,

The supplied Model 7 instruction manual says that trigger can only be adjusted by the factory or an authorized Remington gunsmith, but in fact it is user adjustable. Simply remove the action from the stock and there is the trigger mechanism. There are two small adjustment screws on the front of the trigger assembly, and one on the back. These are for for pull weight, sear engagement, and trigger over-travel . . . .

The answer to your question is, if you know how to adjust it, it's not difficult. But I know that this has no bearing on most folks who just want a 'better' trigger. If you have some mechanical ability and understand the geometry of what takes place inside the trigger in relationship to the firing pin and most importantly can make the adjustments safely, you could attempt to do a trigger job. I don't think that you can read a set of generic instructions and complete a trigger job correctly so I usually recommend a gunsmith. Those folks that understand the workings of a trigger and know where to stop can generally take care of some simple adjustments. I always have reservations about this because of our litiginous society.

There are sets of written instructions on the internet and you can source them with a quick search. I think I've posted them several times so you can use the GB search function as well.

    Best.

Thanks much nononsense. I did the search and found a reply that gave a link to an article that gave very precise directions and the why's and wherefore's to adjusting the trigger. Hopefully this along with the float job I just did will really dial this 673 in. Actually, the gun is still unfired, so I will never know how it shot out of the box, but I bet it will shoot for sure now. Thanks Again. You're a wealth of information that is greatly appreciated.
