I believe there is one on the auction sight with a fairly high value! Do a search and check it out.

Thanks for reply. I saw the listing but the box is different and I still don't know DOM.

Is this a series 70 or series 80 pistol and what is the finish? Book shows $725 to 875 for 100% condition another 5% for 9MM. $875 for the older series 70, $725 for series 80. Is it possible the serial number starts with FG instead of FC?

Is it blue steel, stainless, lightweight alum? Lots of variables. Can you put up a picture?

It is series 80 and the serial number is FC. It is blue, 4 1/2 inch. I realize what the Blue Book states but a lot of Colts go for much more than the book. Maybe this one doesn't. Being NIB, unfired makes some difference.
Thanks for all replies. I still don't know DOM. I guess early 80's ? I have the R L Wilsom book but it doesn't list the Combat line.

First off it it R L Wilson book, not Wilsom. The barrel is 4 1/4 inch, not 4 1/2. Getting old and don't see too good sometimes.
Thanks again and sorry for the errors.

    My e-mail address is softail2005@comcast.net.

I agree that the 9mm are not as available as 45 acp. So there is a value increase of 5% for that Cal. NIB with all the paperwork adds some value but a series 80 is not that old and has less value than the series 70 in that same condition.

Is this a special model or a stock series 80?

If you are choosing to sell on auction here at GB you can always put the value at what you want and see if it generates any interest.
I sell Harley parts on another forum and have sold furniture on Craigs list. I start high and work my way down to attract interest, but I always try to put the price at a realistic starting point close to actual market if I can figure it out.

I use Fjestad's 25th edition of gun values and that is a good starting point. Then check the GB auctions to see what the current market prices are for what I have. That should put you pretty close to what your pistol will bring on the current market. If appraising for estate purposes or insurance replacement value I use the higher number Blue Book vs Current Market.Just my opinion of course.

Thanks for reply. Friend here locally offered $800 so I let him have it. The way Colt's go up it was probably worth more but the profit was too much to turn down.
    Thanks again to all, H.O.
