O.K. New topic... 1st. question...have you ever tossed a gun in the river....you know like over the bridge to get rid of it. Now don't go there.. I'm not ness. refering to criminal ativity or behavioir. Maybe simply when you were young and perhaps didn't trust the police ... maybe to protect the hood from the enemy... think back. I know diving on the County Shirifs dept. we often find these rusty guns ..some time looking for evidence ,other times just artifact diving. Thanks for your side of the story. It's kinda like "whats your longest shot" stories Later on..[;)]

Never deep sixed a gun- but FWIW, the local divers (fire dept) were on a training dive in the river that runs thru town- just off the ship dock- and found a car. Got a wrecker down there, hauled it out (turned out stolen) UNDERNEATH the car- was another car. Stolen 6 years before the first one. Recently they recovered 4 stolen AR-15s from the same spot. Must be good fishin' in that spot!

once i tossed a stevens bolt action .410 ga. into the river. about half of the time a person would close the bolt it would fire a round. proir to the toss i took it to a gunsmith to see if it could be repaired. he told me it was an inexpenesive (cheep) made gun and it would probably cost more to fix 'er than she was worth. kind of like my first wife. so i elected to toss it so it would never harm someone. unfortunately i could'nt toss the ex in the river. just had to divorce her. she's still out there somewhere harming fellow men. do you guys think i should have tossed her in the river too?

I know my brother who is on the fire dept rescue team and is a certified dive instructor finds them from time to time out on calls with the fire dept.

Never toss a gun away! Even if you strip it down and sell it for parts (those that work) it's worth something to someone.

I dropped my new Ithaca 37 in the creek when I was young.

I was hunting and fell through the ice...

If you really want to "get rid of a gun", take a torch and melt the receiver to the point where it is a puddle of metal.
