I was just thinking that I needed to add something to my collectionconglomeration when this little beauty walked it;P1010001.jpg,P1010002.jpgnow my question, how does the nose cap come off? there is a screw from the bottom up and the typical mauser flat spring retained barrel band but the nose cap(bayonet mount) will not budge. I want to adjust the front sight, but the sight protectors are in the way.[:(!]

The first time I took my M 96 apart the band spring give me fits. It was inletted so tight into the stock that it was difficult to compress it enough so that the band could be moved enough to clear it.

Although I've never took a M 94 apart, my 2? though is it's going to be a two person job. One person to compress the band spring enough so that the band has clearence to move. The other person will be massaging the nose cap/bayonet lug with a brass drift. Good luck.

remove screw , press something like a punch in the hole next to the screw to depress the retainer , tap it off

Wow! It looks like you got one of the early imports that does not have the dreaded barrel extension as well. Oberndorf, early production as well...hope you had to pay a hefty price for that one?!?! They seem to be going in the $1200 range these days for the Oberndorf guns. Let me know if you need to get rid of it...ever...for any reason (the sound of drool hitting my keyboard in the background). I have them all (major variants anyway) and need that one to round out the Swede collection. You are a lucky Boy!
