Looking to buy a new Revolver Chambered for the 500 Smith Round. I can get a Taurus Raging Bull for about 160.00 less than the Smith 500. Is the extra Money worth it and what are the pros and cons of each? Thanks for any information.

although i concider the raging bull the best of the taurus line, i personally wouldnt hesitate to spend the extra money for the smith.. i dont think there is any ddoubt that the smith is the finer weapon.. just my thoughts...

I have had several experiences with Taurus revolers and I own several S&W I no longer own any Taurus guns. Especially in the large caliber I would go with the S&W. The S&W is a better gun.

Agreed. The S&W is worth the difference -- IMHO.

You might want to consider the Ruger brand. I think I will start buying those. The prices are great and one of the strongest guns made. Plus, Ruger is a totally American company.

Maybe the few posters that responded negatively were influenced by not having owned any of the newer models from Taurus; strong, accurate, smooth trigger pulls, good sights, and less money than that "other company".
Personally, I'll never own another 'Smith, since that company sold out America's gun owners. (Yes, I know they've since been bought back by an American conglomerate, but screw me once....)

TR had a good idea; if you're afraid of the Raging Bull and don't want to buy a s&w; get a Ruger.

I was a taurus fan until I bought an ultralight .357 the cylinder popped open everytime I fired it. Now it is in the factory for repair they are also on back order now so I assume due to profiteering they have allowed quality to become second to profit. S&W is the same I would not buy one, truth is an older smith is a high quality gun, some Taurus are high quality as are the Ruger. If you really want to know shoot it first :)
I personally like the older Rossi .357 Revolvers, looks like a smith and shoots like a smith but cost like a High POint :)
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
