I am interested in any and all information regarding "The Colt '57" Model 30-.06 Caliber Rifle. What makes it special enough to have a one year run in manufacturing. Is it valuable because of this fact? It also has a Colt Scope it seems was made just for it. Thanks!

They were assembled on imported Mauser commercial actions, by the Jefferson Manufacturing Co. Who was a subcontractor to Colt.

The later bolt action rifles Colt sold into the early 60's, were know as the Coltsman, by the Kodiak Co which was a successor to Jefferson.

The only way that I see it would have any great collector value, if it was in factory original, excellent condition.

I collect guitars, and things that creates great demand or value for an item is originality, condition, and availability. I am considering that this was only made for 1 year or so. There are 3 types, Standard, Deluxe, and Custom. Therfor there can only be a few of t5hem around in each catagory, especially when compared to a Coltsman that was marketed for several years. Do the same factors apply in Firearm collecting?

Anny info on how many were made, and of which style? Mine is the Custom and is in fantastic condition. Also the gun has no rear sightsanbd it appears the scope was from the factory.

jhnwrrn, Welcome to the forum. You are correct the same factor's that make a guitar more valuable also make a firearm more valuable to collectors. One BIG factor that you didn't mention is demand. There must be some buyers out there to run the price up. Since these were not actually made by Colt, they are of less interest to collectors.
