Ran across a Winchester model 70 and was wondering if one of you Winchester experts could give me a date of manufacture for it.
The serial number is G 20135xx.
Fwiw it's the cheaper Ranger model.
Any idea of it's value in unfired condition?

Can anyone tell me what year a Model 70 carbine SN GU16840x would have been made? I thought the post 64 Model 70's began at 700,000, but I don't really think this one is a pre 64. The blue book does not match up any SN's that begin with GU, only G. But I don't know if the GU means a carbine or what.

You're correct on the numbers. Yours is NOT a pre-64. I don't have numbers for the post models and I haven't seen the GU prefix?

It's not mine, but I was looking at it for $380. Conservatively 90% in 30-06. I may still pick it up tomorrow am.
