Was wondering if anyone has any information they can give us on a gun my husband received as barter payment for some work he did. The gun is a Damascus Twist 12 gauge, 30 inch single barrel. It's marked
A.M. Arms Co. Boston. Pat. D March 21, 82. May 23, 83. Semi Hammerless Trade Mark #32276??? There is no box or literature for it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jedpie

    jedpie,
It may possibly be made from the olde American arms of Boston about the same time frame you describe. It had something to do with the Fox shotguns (not Ansley H Fox)Check to see if the barrels are NOT soft sodered together or held uniquely together by mechanical means. If so, in good condition the piece may be worth more than you expected.
Henry's advice should not go unheeded. DO NOT fire it!!

if the gun locks up tight (on face),and the barrels have not deteriorated it can be fired. first take it to a gunsmith to check it , find out what it loaded when made - low pressure shells as compared to todays modern ammo. you can get shotgun shells made for these old timers. www.shootingsportman.com is a good site to learn about old shotguns. ps i am not a gunsmith
