For my money you can't go wrong with the Remington SPR 453. Less than half the price of either of the ones you listed, and even cheaper if you can find a pre-Remington one just stamped Baikal MP153.

If you're dying to spend that kind of money, I'd go with the Benelli. I had an Xtrema, and it was like swinging a telephone pole.

Well I am just entering the duck/goose arena and am currently using a 3inch Browning B80 so I am thinking that anything may be an upgrade?

Try them both and buy the one that fits you the best. I have both and like them both. I also like my Browning 80

unless you are really stuck on the Beretta, benelli..really nice shotguns, take a look at the Stoeger lineup, I have a comp plus 12 and it rocks for waterfowl and all the gamebirds with the extended choke.

I have a SBE II. I have had three different guides tell me that if they could own one duck gun...the SBE would be it. It also comes with four chokes...all excellent. Very light with forgiving recoil. I also like the feel of the inertia drive. It has my vote.

The SPR is a fine meat and potato gun, but its much heavier and less ergonomic than the Italian guns. I would look at the Franchi I 12 as well. It uses the Benelli system, and is a fine gun. Beretta, Benelli, Stoeger, and Franchi are all owned by Beretta. So in essence you are looking for a gun within the same comapny.

I love my Benelli Super Black Eagle. Iam taking it duck hunting in about 5 hours. Its the left hand Camo version.... never jams and fits me perfectly.

That B80 will kill ducks just fine! The 3.5" thing is unnecessary marketing. Only time I use them is for buckshot rounds when coyote hunting.

Here is another vote for the SBE II, With all of the extra's that Benelli has put into the SBE it would be hard not to love it. When you look at the combanation of the inertia drive and the comfort tec it is really a whole generation past everybody else out there.

That's the facts, now for my opinion. You really do not need a gun that shoots 3.5" shells for ducks, 3" will work just fine if you need the extra reach. Save yourself $400 and pick up a Benelli M-2.

Xtrema is just too heavy in my opinion.

SBE II is the ticket. Or a Browning Gold
Half of the lives they tell about me aren't true.

Go hunting with some serious waterfowl hunters (especially geese). You will notice that 90% have a SBE in their hands. the other 10% have something else. Remember, it is all about killing birds. You can kill birds with just about anything - 3", 2 3/4" - before steel i killed many a Mallard with 3" .410's over decoys.

But that is not what you asked - Extreme or SBE - buy the SBE....
