    Hi,

Simple newbie type question. I'm trying to learn all I can about Ruger Vaquero revolvers. I've noticed that pictures of them always show a yellow band at the rear of the cylinder. It looks like a plastic spacer. Is this just for storage/shipping or is it a permanent part of the gun? I'm very interested in the 45lc/45acp combination offering from ruger.

    Thanks

Is it normal for both the trigger pin and hammer pin to work itself out(not completely out but loosen)of the left side on my Vaquero ? it does this just cocking and releasing the hammer several times and can easily push them back in with my fingers, don't even have to shoot it for this to happen. Got it on a trade and have'nt shot it yet, very nice s/s pistol in .44 mag. This just does'nt seem right to me. Thanks for any expert help.

How hard is it to replace a reduced-power hammer spring and how do I do it?

Purchased two Ruger Vaquero's the other day in polished SS. I was disappointed to say the least in the smudged up and just plain dirty looking condition when I took them out of the plastic. Never seen this before in any Ruger or any other firearm I have purchased. Also the rosewood grips don't fit very well and have a couple of large gaps. Any insight from the learned body ? I called Ruger Customer Service and she said that if she send me some grips they might not fit any better and the guns are handled by the factory and the distributor. Send them back for work or just live with it? Thanks

I didn't find anything in a quick look thru the hiddleson handbook but you should post the question on the ruger forum @ Rugerforum.com

"Red Eagle" news had several articles about these guns. Etc, number and when made.

.44mag. 5.5" Vaquero, blue, CC finish, simulated ivory grips with engraved cylinder.

That would be a BNV-475IE, less than 1000 made. Check the end label of the gray case, if that is the catalogue# it is 100% factory. SN 57-19xxx should be a 1999 gun in a gray hard case with white end label.

    Value: NIB $600 +or- some.

    Here is a BNV-44IE, well used. .45 4-5/8" less than 1500 made.
