If smokeless powder is legal where you hunt, get the Savage.
I got 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards right out of the box. Vihtavouri N110, 43 grains, and the Hornady 250 SST, Winchester shotgun primers.
Two inches high at 100, dead on at 150, three inches low at 200.

You also can get the TC Omega, shoot 90 grains of 777 and the 250 SST. I know a guy who made a 208 yard shot with this load, but the ballistics are not as good as the Savage.

I like my Omega. Have gotten good accuracy out to 150...that is the farthest I can range where I am. I tried all kinds of sabots and such until I came to 245 gr powerbelts. I don't like the way they look and wouldn't have tried them if a guy at the range had't let me try a few. The gun loves them...and the gun is the master.

That being said...I bought my nephew a cheap ($100) CVA from Gander and he printed 2" Groups at 100. It is more finding what the gun likes than the gun in my opinion. If you buy a name brand..take care of it..and find what it likes you should be able to get what you need out of most of them.

Also..I have played with the charge using both 100 and 150 gr of 777 and at 100 I don't get a difference. I am quite sure I will at longer ranges.

    Good luck

I have not seen a TC Omega that did not like 2-50gr 777 pellets, and a 245 gr powerbelt AT. Each gun is its own individual, and I have both 50 and 45 caliber Encore barrels. I shoot 100 grains of 777(2-50 gr. pellets), and a 195 gr. and 245 gr powerbelt respectively. I can blast a clay bird at 200 yards just about every shot. I have shot thousands of dollars of powder/bullet combinations thru my muzzle loaders. Black powder(FFg, and FFFg), Black Canyon, Clean Shot, Clear Shot, American Pioneer, Pyrodex, and 777, and all different sabots.
