I post a question yesterday got some good replies about m77 ruger I'm going to buy. So today I went to Google.com and did a search on m77 and the reports I got back weren't all that great. So I'm wondering if I didn't make a bad choice. So many guns selections to look at,and wondering what to do. The reason I look at the Ruger was because it look good, built good also I have a 10/22 which I like very much. The price was 499.00 on the Ruger m77 which wasn't to bad. Well there it is I would some good advice on making a good seletion[:D]

I want to by a new Rifle that is good built, an accurate. I thaught about going with a Ruger, Tikka, Browning, etc it has to have a detachable box magazine. I know Ruger dosn't have a detachable box magazine but they seem to accurate. I would to like to use it mostly for deer hunting, then varmint hunting, maybe some big game later on. Thanks for your time and good hunting... P.S. It would have to be Synthetic Stock,Stainless steel is not nessary but ok. Oh it has to be under a 1000.00 bucks.[:D]

Any with a heavy barrel you listed will probably be under 1000

Go with the Tikka T-3. Put a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9, or 4.5-14 on it and be done. Caliber wise, I would go with the 7MM-08, 270, 280, or 30-06...the 30-06 being the best choice.

If you are set on the 3 choices I'd go with:

    1. Browning
    2. Tikka
    3. Ruger

If not, you might also want to consider:

    1. Savage
    2. Remington

One more Cal you may want to consider is a 25-06.

I would also suggest you look at the offerings from CZ USA. BEATUIFUL and accurate guns.

I recently bought a Savage with detachable box and synthetic stock. It also has the accutreigger(I think that is a plus). It is accurate out of the box and you can add a decent scope and still have money left from your $1000. Mine is a .243 that is an excellent round for our Texas Hill Country Whitetails and any smaller critters....

The Savage 111 with accu-trigger is a flat-out dinger- our area gun shop has them in .270, 30-06, .308 in black snythetic stock with recoil pad, 22" mid-weight barrel, regular sight group, Weaver bases and off-set rings and a 3x9 Bushnell scope for a flat $429 out-the-door. Oh, a Uncle Mike's black nylon sling also comes with this. The entire rifle (unloaded) with scope will weigh just under 8 lbs. so you do get a tad of recoil- A box magazine is a great idea, but if you shoot like a Marine sniper- "One Shot-One Kill" you don't need the extra rounds- the most accurate BA rifles today have no magazine wells in the stock group- stronger pillar bedding.
