This may be a real newbie question, but I'm looking for an AK. What is the difference between the AK47 and the AK-200B or AK-200G that I see advertised on Gunbroker?

"AK47" is the generic name for rifles built on the Kalasnikov design. You can't buy a "real" AK47, as the "real" ones are select-fire. But, the term "AK47" isn't trademarked, so anyone can use that to describe his semi-auto version.

Most AK47 variants cannot currently be imported. So, enterprising importers combine newly made receivers with foreign & US made parts to produce a gun that meets US import requirements. As you look at the auctions, you will probably find 50 variations, or more; they are/were made by different manufacturers & brought in by different importers.

The AK200 was made in Romania, & was recently imported. The latest import is the STG-2000-C from Inter Ordinance. You can learn a lot by searching the archives on this forum.
