Manufacture date for Savage/Valmet

Dear Savage pros; need to know manufacture date for Savage/Valmet model 330 O/U 20 ga. shotgun for insurance purposes. Perhaps QuailHunter would know? Ser.# 645xxV. Thanks in advance; Joe B.; hunterinthethumb.

    If the gun is over about 20 years old, you'll likely have to contact the Savage Historian ( contact info provided on Savage website) and pay for whatever he can tell you.
    Savage Inc. has changed ownership hands a time or two, and current owners have little interest in Savage history.
    There was reported factory fire that reportdly destroyed some old records. And many of the rest were reportedly dumped in the late 1960's.
    As incredable as it sounds, it's often easier to obtain tech info on foriegn made WW-2 rifles from Mfg'ers that were bombed,than it is to obtain Tech info on a vintage Savage/Stevens.
