Would it be possible with two like Tikkas to switch barrels from the .308 to the 338 Win Mag and the 338 barrel to the .308 and then would I have a .308 Federal and would factory ammo work, also would the 30.338 win mag suffer much in accuracy with the short barrel. Thanks in advance for the help. Bob

I think you are trying to make a 338 federal and a 30-338 Win Mag from a 308 Win and 338 Win Mag rifles by switching the barrels?

While this is possible is is not very practical since it would take a gunsmith some serious work and cost you $$$.

the 338 win Mag barrel would need cut off and re threaded, then rechambered to 338 Federal. It would be more cost effective to buy a new one.

Then the 308 barrel would need re set onthe 338 action and reamed out to the wildcat 30-338 ( or anyother 30 cal mag like 300 win Mag)

I'd just sell the rifles and buy what you really want.

Many things are possible but not cost effective . The barrel has the chamber of that cartridge with just a small amount of the cartridge head sticking out beyond rear of this barrel into the bolt face. the chance of your intended swap having the barrels index in the right place and having the correct head-space is a C.D.I.H. just my $.02

And then there's the problem of head size and bolt faces. Dollars upon dollars.
