460 Smith And Wesson 20" Encore load

I am looking for a 460 Smith & Wesson handload designed to shoot out of an Encore 20" pro hunter barrel. I have shot Hornady 200 grain XTPs which had terrible groups. All of the reloading data I can find is in the Pistol category and typically 11" barrrels at most. How much will the 20" barrel affect the Pistol loads? Should I use a slower burning powder and heavier bullets than the hornady 200 XTPs? Can I use another cartridge such as the 450 Marlin as a reference?

Thanks!

I would definitely NOT use reloading data for another cartridge to determine loads for the 460, the only "maybe" exceptions I'd guess would be using 454 Casull or 45 Colt charges in the 460 case and I think I'd just in general stay away from that also.

I use rifle rounds in my T/C Encore handgun & generally figure I lose about 40 fps per inch, so your 20" bbl should net about an additional 400 fps.

I'd suggest heavier bullet, check out your reloading manual for the slower burning powder. Don't know if IMR 4198 is listed, but that's usually a good large capacity, straight walled powder. Does well in my 45/70s.
