I think my previous post on this topic was locked. I'm sorry but if I violated some rule I'd be happy to conform.
I do have more pics on this firearm and plan to offer it for sale on the hose site.
Am I doing something wrong here?

Generally, posts get locked after 10 responses. That's because we should have answered the question by that point, & it should be moved to General Discussion if it has become a free-for-all. To extend your stay, modify your first post by clicking on the EDIT icon, rather than enter another response.

In this case, you HAVE stepped over the line. You are not allowed to offer anything for sale on the Ask The Experts forum; that's what the Auction side is for. If you have photos, that's good; just post them with your auction description.

    Thanks Neal,
I'm information gathering here with the full intention of offering the item on the host site. I suspect I will have way more than ten posts seeking advice, not sure what the best way is to proceed.
I am NOT just tossing this out for offers. I'm respectfully asking for opinions on pricing and identification. I need to know what to call the darn critter, a ballpark figure to list it at and I had hoped the best subject header to list it.
Thanks so much for your advice.

Dont take this wrong but the pictures seem to me that it has some pitting /wear. . I would say put it up for a no reserve auction starting at $1000.00 I think this is in the ball-park on what it is worth but much larger better quality pictures will bring the nearest to true value.By The Way I don't know where you got the term OFFICERS MODEL but in truth a description that states BROWNING High Power with Tangent rear sight and cut for shoulder stock will get you a better result. No such model as officers model.

EDIT hello Cora I would list your pistol in the FIREARM section sub listing PISTOL The collector section is limited . I would list as a NO RESERVE auction many people will not even look at reserved auctions "MYSELF Included" because they are listed over and over with no intent of ever selling at a realistic price and are a waste of time. I would try for some better quality pictures with close-ups of all markings . And as stated before list the first time with a starting price you could live with or even lower will give you more bidders

    Thanks Perry,
No worries about taking it wrong, there does seem to be some pitting. I would love advice as to what condition I should list it as. The blue seems to be fine, action is smooth.
I would also love advice as to what category to list it under for the most response.
Thanks in advance for your help.

In light of the serial number, even with what appears to be light pitting. I believe it to be quite a valuable and historic military handgun. Doubt very seriously that their are many first year of production; Belgian Military High Powers still available for sale.

The auction has a category for Curio & Relic firearms. I would list the Browning H-P there with the best guality photos you have.

$1000 was put forth by another poster as the basic price to start the auction. Personally I consider that as being on the low side, but it will enable you to sell the gun quickly and just might bring a lot of competing bidders out of the woodwork.

Cora, you did say you were going to offer it for auction on the host site. You did good. After you have it all listed there, please get back to us with the auction number over to the "general discussion" forum. The amount of responses there isn't restricted to ten replies. Best, Joe

EDIT: Cora, what sellername are you using for the auctions? "gottagun" is someone from years ago. Best, Joe

Cora, if you follow guns that are listed & sold on the auctions side, you will that the highest prices realized go to the guns with the best photographs. No one wants to know what your desscription is (other than the bore condition, which doesn't show in pictures); they want to SEE it with their own eyes.

You want to post at least 6-8 high quality, well lit, photos. Since your equipment & skills are, well, not the best, it might be worth you while to either borrow equipment from someone else, or pay a professional to take the photos for you. Many wedding photographers have studio experience, so that might be a good place to look for help.

    Thanks Neal,
I might consider a photographer, we shall see what I can get done with my 35mm and some better lighting vs a quick shot with my point and shoot digital and outdoor shots. It sounds like it would be worth my while to spend the time and or money.

Joe, I will be using the username gottagun. It has been probably five years or more since I've sold anything on the host site. I've been selling off a few now and then to fund my daughters college after her fathers untimely death privately. The last few are collectables that I need help pricing. I'ts been a very long time, since he and I used to work in the gun stores part time and had fun collecting so I'm way out of the loop. I really had hoped to hang onto the last few but it's not to be. This is highest value item of the last few so I really need to do it right. I will post the item number in the general discussions when I get better photos and list it.
Now if I can figure out the best way to sell the ammo, plethera of hosters, grips, clips and reloading dies I'll be a happy woman.
I suspect we will have reached the maximum number of posts on this topic so if anyone has any suggestions on those items feel free to email me through the forum, it works.
Once again I'd like to thank everyone for their assitance. I really appreciate the access to the expert advice available here.
