I was thinking about building a custom 10/22. What is a better barrel Green Mountain, ER Shaw, or Pig Whistle? I am also looking for a stock I want a Red/Black laminete what is a good brand under $200?

Yes, a better barrel...a Magnum Research tensioned carbon barrel. The Butler Creek, and TS barrels are nothing above factory barrels, but a lot of weight.

Also take a look at Green Mountain barrels. I have two in sporter weight and they shoot great, not too heavy. The heavier .920 bulls weigh about 3 lbs.,might want to keep that in mind if this is a walking around gun.
    Take a look at www.shootersdiscount.com

Are you looking for a similar contour to the barrel you have now, or something distinctly longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, or more accurate? Some factory barrels are incredibly accurate; maybe I'm just very lucky, but I have an old finger groove model with standard barrel that has given me a 5 shot best (W-W Power Points) of 3/8" and will regularly keep groups in the 1 to 1.5" range at 100 yards, assuming a calm day, no caffein, an good light.
I won't touch that rifle; have only put in new springs and an overtravel stop screw. If I were building a rifle from scratch I'd follow the advice already offered.
    Good luck. Have fun.

I've got a Shilen barrel on one I built. It shoots more different brands in the same hole than a Adams& Bennet or the Green Mountain that I had.

Cant beat a KIDD, If not I would get a E.R.Shaw. Vq trigger group (dont skimp out here) and bolt work done by Randy at CPC.
