We have about 5 days left in the season and have decided to lay low and wait for a decent deal over the summer. My thought is to try the pump gun and not have a ton invested when ducks will not be legal for 10 more months. I tend to rush into new projects and am trying not to do this THIS TIME, thanks

Well, if you don't own an 870...you have to go with it.

870 Express Super magnum is the best deal in town.

I don't know about the Nova but I've put thousands of rounds through a 500, 870, and a BPS. The BPS is a much better pump gun than the others. The only draw back is that the action is much more difficult to take apart.

red, if you are a small framed adult, or have short arms, I would not go with the Browning BPS. Great gun, but I am 5 foot 6 inches tall, and have short arms. On many ocassion, when shooting at quick flying grouse, my BPS guns 'jamb' because they are bottom-eject receivers, and my left hand is in the way when working the pump action. It has cost me many a quick second shot. If you have long arms, the cupped portion of your palm will not be in the way when the action tries to spit out the fired hull. Sidenote: I currently own many shotguns. Among them a 12ga BPS, a 20ga BPS, a 12ga 870 Wingmaster, a 20ga 870 LW Magnum, and a 12ga 870 Express (the express is solely for borrowing to friends or for really wet days!!). The Brownings are beautiful guns (nicely figured walnut) and have really slick smooth actions (as do both my 870 Wingmasters). If you are on a really tight budget, go with the 870 super express magnum.

( SBE is a semi-auto, I believe he's looking for a pump, in which case Benelli is coved there with the Nova )

If your looking for a good meat gun, something to take to the marsh and get dirty I'd go with the Nova. If you want something purty... go BPS. Remington quality suck's, I would pass on them.

BPS is one of the finest pump guns out there. Smooth and sturdy with great fit and finish. Everything Browning has ever stood for.

    Another vote for BPS.
