Are there any different brands of ammo beside the Hornandy? Of the Hornady, are there dierent grains beside the 160. I would like to find a 180 grain for a little more knock-down power.

Thanks for your input,
Reedman

I am sure, as of right now, Hornady is your only option. They introduced this cartrige with Marlin last year at the SHOT show. I am not sure if they make anything bigger than the rubber tipped 160 grainer or not. Actually I just checked their website, and they show only one loading.

I've not seen any promise of the 'rubber tipped' bullets out for reloading use, but I may be missing them.

Yep, I agreed at one time. I waded into pointys in my 30/30 and was very surprized at the 150 yard difference. Using the two shot gun was fine with me, but ....A couple of the loads almost went in my podnuhs son's lever-gun. He was polite enough to ask if he could use the ammo in my coat. Nobody else there would have thought to ask, mostly because anything in the camp is subject to anyone using it. Very Lucky I Guess. Some folks would not think about putting them in a tubular magazine.

I have loaded pointed bullets for my Marlin 30-30 for years. I have an excellent 180 grain load i use for hogs that will put them in the dirt. I only load 2 rounds in the mag. I load one in the chamber when I am ready to shoot and one in the mag for a backup. If you need more than two rounds then you need more time at the range.
