Looking for review on a Winchester Model 24. Thinking of purchasing one(when I find the right one). I have no experience with this model and would like opinions and price ranges. 16 or 20 gauge with 26 or 28 inch barrels. Thanks.

What would cause a model 24 to fire as soon as you close the action?

    Folks,

I'm trying to find the value of a Winchester Model 24 SxS with 26" barrels, Modified and Improved cylinders. Manufacture date is 1947. Condition, I would guess, is 75% blueing and "Fine" according to NRA Antique Firearms Conditions Standards.

Have a Winchester model 24 double 12ga. extractor gun that when breached is not open enough to either insert or remove the shells unless you hold down on the barrels. I have ask this before but got no response. Does anyone have any idea why? Gun is in great condition and apears to be a lightly used gun. I have many old doubles and this is the only one like this.

    Thanks

Good morning glover: Well your gun has a minimum value of $400-$500 in parts alone.

What duckhunter is saying barrel length, chokes, style of butt stock, (pistol grip or english, rare) and originality, not reblued or butt stock cut or pad added.

Not uncommon to see 20ga Md 24s top $1000 if it grades out above 90% condition all orignal especially with 26in, barrels choked Imp/Cyl & Mod. BTW welcome to the forum!!

    Regards Dave

Welcome and congratulations on having a nice classic American workhorse.

I recently bought a nice Model 24 circa 1940 in 12 ga for $425. Good shape and original except the forearm catch on the barrels was re-welded or re-soldered. He had a nice looking 20 ga also, priced at $525. in fairly good shape. Both had 0% of the bluing left on the receiver. Most used model 24's "shooters" that I have seen had receivers in similar condition. They are pretty much plain janes as far as looks go but good old shooters. In non-collector condition, I would guess you could sell it for somewhere in the range of $525 to $700.
