Does anyone know the dates of manufacture of the Beretta Model 70 series of automatics or have a source or link that would show them?

I'd like to purchase a Model 70 but have to find out if it is C&R qualified (I believe that the "70S" series are all post-1968, but are any of the "70" series pre-1957?).

googling around the production date starts in 1962 and ended in the early 80's. The 70S was a steel framed version, while the normal 70 was aluminum alloy framed. So I guess that would not make them C&R eligible.

The Italian proof marks on the pistol should contain a coded proof date in the form of either Roman Numerals or letters. If you can provide these markings? It would be possible to ascertain the year the pistol was proofed. Likely this will be the same as DOM.

Well my Beretta 1951 "Brigadier" has 1957 stamped on the frame just below the rear of the slide. It would not surprise me to find it on a Model 70 as well. But I think C&R will be out for the 70

Thanks, guys--I was afraid of that. I believe that the earliest 70s usually did have the actual date stamped on them as did the early commercial 951s.

    Appreciate the help!

Nope. I have only seen blued ones and a few non OEM nickeled ones.
