I am looking at a Browning 78 in 45-70. It is new in the box. The guy wants $850. The box and manual are in good shape and the gun has a few small handling marks but over all it is 99%. Do you think these guns will hold there value are even go up? I would put it in the safe with the others and look at it ever so often.I think these where made from 1973 to 1982 or 83. What would you pay????
THanks

Take a look at the auction side for the 1885 search. The B78 is the same beast as an 1885 basically. That is a steal all day!!!

$850 is a very good price for the gun you describe. I can not say if it will gain, hold, or lose value over time.

Excellent price. I have the Winchester one in 7 WSM and it is much more accurate than my Ruger #1s. IIRC, bought mine a few years ago for about $800.00.

The Browning & Winchester are I'm sure each made side by side in Japan. The Browning has a slicker finish to the wood, Winchesters tend to be a bit more subdued.

Hey I bought it friday night. It is almost perfect. I got him to throw in a box of ammo, man that stuff is high. I have lookedn gb and these are selling from $999 to $1100. It will go in the safe with all the others, mostly shotguns (410's nib).
