MAB 1935a

I have a MAB 1935A that's locked up tight. The hammer will come back to one click and that's it.

The pin that appears to hold in the mainspring housing doesn't release it when removed.

It's a really nice arsenal refinished pistol and I'm sure the fix is simple when I can figure out how to get it apart.

The firing control mechanism of the 35A is a enbloc assembly that comprises the hammer, mainspring, sear and all other associated parts.

Whoever refinished it previously, might have screwed something up what they put it back together.

The only way I can think of to get it apart is to take off the grips. Then clamp the frame in a soft jawed vise. Use a large drift punch against the upper part of the hammer, to get it back to the full cock position.

This is drastic and potentially destructive to both the hammer, sear and other associated parts. A man has to do, what he has to do though. Good luck.

I figgured it out...not only am I a real gunsmith, but I play one on TV. (And I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night)

The slide stop/take town pin a la 1911 comes out easily, with the slide move back only about 3/8", if that, and with the slide bbl assy out of the way, the trigger assy can be lifted out.

The fire control en bloc is very Tokarev/Desert Eagle-esque, with the sear/release lever, hammer, hammer spring, and hammer strut (which looks like an eyebolt and actually loads UP when cocking) all comes out in one assembly.

The pins that serve as the hammer axle and sear/release lever axle push right out and then it was a very simple thing to see that the sear/release lever has a slot in it, which the hammer must traverse from bottom to top while rotating back to engage the 1st and then 2nd notch on the bottom of the sear/release lever.

Anyway, the pin which holds the eyebolt looking hammer strut had walked out, and was keeping the hammer from rotating back. Repeated attempts to cock the hammer had made it burred and I had to make up a new pin from some guage pin stock. Dressed it and pressed it lightly into the hammer/eyebolt.

Reassembly was cake and the thing works. Provided I can find some of the weak French caliber ammo.

I'm surprised the thing doesn't dispense white flaglets.

A lot of cool plum colored bluing on the smaller parts, safety, extrator, hammer etc...neat little gun.

An elegant and slender little pistol. And I just noticed the loaded chamber indicator on the slide.
