I am having a hard time choosing between these two guns. My first shotgun was a winchester so I know the company, but I have a few buddies pushing me in the direction of the 3901. To further complicate things I have found both these guns at retailers around town and they are within twenty dollars of each other. Both 3 inch, both black syn., both NIB. Any and all info. would be very greatly appreciated.

I have a 3901 in the NRA edition 20GA and love it. I am not usually a Black gun guy with shotguns and may have gotten rid of it as it does not have the character I like as far as looks. But when I pull this gun up it just feels natural to me and the whole appearance of the gun disapears. I have two shotguns that I would not part with due to the feel of the fit of the gun one is my 3901 and the other is a 50's era model 58. My buddy has a super X2 and my dad a super X3 and they love them. Go to the gun shop and ask to throw both up to your shoulder and decide what fits you the best. Just because one feels better to me does not mean it will be your same choice. I do not see how you could go wrong with either gun!

I've had a super x2 3in. for several years no problems. I hunt a lot of water fowl so its taken a beating over the years. Some people don't like the raised rib on them, best to shoot both then buy the one you like.

Thanks for the info. The last winchester I had also had the raised rib, and seeing as how that's the first gun I ever shot I am used to it. Your insight helps out a lot.
