Ruger .327, SP101 vs. GP100

I bought one of the EARLY SP101's in .327 Fed Mag and had to return it twice to Ruger to make it serviceable and then a trip to my gun smith to re-regulate the front sight. That said, I still like this caliber and am considering the addition of a Ruger GP100 in that same caliber. It's a 7-shot and runs about $500. Anybody out there with GP100 experience in .327 Federal Magnum?

    I do not own a GP 100 in .327 Magnum, but I have owned on in .357 Magnum for 25-years (first year production), and it is built like a M1A1 Tank[^]... I have shot thousands of round of full-power (and them some) loads through it with nary a problem. I do not believe that the .327 cartridge has the capacity of testing the limits of the GP 100 frame.

    You could probably shoot 44mag through the GP100 frame if you wanted to. Very well built.

    Bert hit the 10 ring on the GP-100. It is made better in my opinion with new stocks and a trigger job.

    Numerous SP101 problems and most owned up to by Ruger. They reinvented the extractor star as fired cases of .327 were getting stuck. Bulged cases in my revolver necessitated replacing cylinder and the barrel. The .327 is pretty hot and the long skinny case will bulge and, even with the fix, I have to keep cylinders cleaner than other revolvers to prevent sticking. I've fired a mixture of 32, 32 H&R, and .327 Fed Mag in the piece, probably a total of 1,200 rounds. It is not my favorite caliber but it isn't on the bottom of my list either. I think I'd like it better in a GP100.
