After my wife got her M/96 she had to have the Carbine, we are not sure which one to pursue, Which one would you guys want and why? the M-96/38 rebarreled or cut down one, or the Husqvarna 1941-44? Thank you for your time.

Go for a 94/14 or 94...pretty beyond words. Having said that, I have owned both the 96/38 and true Husky 38's and enjoyed them both. I have only a 94/14 and several 96 militaries that will be here to stay. Your on the right track; just can't hrdly go wrong with a Swede!

EDIT:1 I should likely add that the Swedes really took care of the guns in their arsenals and one can determine much from the brass stock disc as to bore condition and amount of rust in the bore. A 96/38, when converted, would have had to pass minimum requirements befor reissue. A 40's produced Huquevarna would have been watched closely to make sure it did not deviste from minimum standards during it's service life, so one can assume they are all good unless otherwise noted, beaten bad after export or missing it's ID disc. The 94 series were the same (all their guns had these strict maintenance and overhaul schedules) and I like them for their compact handling and gorgeous lines. The 6.5 cartridge makes for a really nice recoiling gun in this compact frame. I own Dutch 8mm 48's, Argentine 91's and a persian 49. All are neat little guns (though none quite as pretty as the Swedes)but in their respective cartridges they are nothing approaching fun to shoot with mil-surp ammo. Anyway, as to which Swede to buy? Any ofd the three would do just great for your wife....tell her she has good taste!
