Mossberg model 810 question

I picked up a Mossberg Model 810 in 30-06 for a reasonable price and was wondering if anyone was familiar with the gun. The bolt has 4 forward locking lugs, unlike most rifles with only 2. Does anyone know if this action is any stronger than say a Rem. 700? I'm just curious and wondering about the strenght of this action and if they were very accurate. Thanks in advance.

My boss in the 1970s had a Mossberg 800 (short action in .243) similar to the 810. It was very plain but serviceable.

They were economy models made to undersell things like Remington 700 and Winchester Model 70, at or near the price of a Remington 788. The four locking lugs are small and are not stronger than a good two lug bolt, not do they make it any more accurate than any other brand of .30-06.

The only similarities Between the Mossberg 810 and the 800 is the safety and the checkering pattern . I have a couple of the 810s one in 06 and one in 7mm RM . They are both excellent shooters and built like a Tank . I really think they're one of the ruggedest guns ever built . Those locking lugs are massive and plenty strong , never seen any that I thought would be as strong on any Rifle ! The trigger is the cats pajamas , easily adjustable and as crisp a breaking glass . Both of mine were shucking back and forth in their Stocks when I got them . So they are both Glass bedded now and shoot lights out . I use the 7mag for my Coyote Gun . It puts five bullets into one hole if I do my part . I have taken song dogs beyond 400 Yds. with it , using 130Gr. Speer BTSPs and a large dose of IMR-4350 . The 06 is my Loaner Gun Since I only paid $100.00 for it . Nobody has ever asked to use it twice , it's heavy but it shoots MOA all day long ! IMO they are a very servicable rifle . They were only made for 5 years , 1970-1975 , The 1970 models have a detatchable Magazine , after that they had a drop Floorplate . If you would like to adjust the trigger PM me and I'll walk you through it .
