Take a look at this one and see what all is wrong. What type grips would be correct for this model?

I'm just guessin' here, but looks to me like a total mismatch? Wrong slide for frame; slide stop, safety and trigger as well? Double diamonds for the grips?
Like I said, guessing only, but I'm interested in what the folks who really know (Neal, etc.) have to say.
    Happy Easter.
p.s. Long as I'm hanging my ignorance out in plain view, I'll add that the hammer and mag. release don't look right.

Perry Shooter knows a lot more about commercial Colts than I. It is a Colt Government Model, not a 1911A1. Yes, the slide looks mismatched but it may just be the lighting, as it is the correct style for a 1967 Colt. It has a commercial long trigger (it should have a short blue trigger). And, the grips should be plastic with the prancing horse molded in.

I don't see anything else that looks to be a problem, other than possibly a replacement barrel.

I'm completely out of my area of expertise when it comes to Colt 45 autos. So the grips should be hard plastic? Brown or black? I'll be on the look out for a correct trigger.

I agree 1967 frame But It should have plastic grips I believe. one other thing the frame looks like it is either in better condition then the slide or refinished. I don't see the VP proof on left side of trigger guard could this have been removed during refinish [?] Trigger is wrong slide stop and safety not original. Do I see a small number of pin prick pits on right side around the magazine release that have been blued over [?] The finish does not look as glossy as I would expect but the finish on both slide and frame look more like they have been sanded on a flat plate or draw filed. The slide is normally heat treated and out of a different steel so this could account for the different color. IF they in fact been reblued at some point. This is an interesting piece and confirms that even with very good closeup pictures it is NOT the same as an Hands on inspection. I for one would not pay collector price for this pistol without first having it in my hands. . I am sure it is nice but IMHO NOT collector grade but rather shooter grade. YMMV.

There is a VP in a triangle just under the trigger on the right side, and a letter L on the upper left of trigger guard, and the number 1 on the upper right of the trigger guard. I've examined the finish under a 10X loupe and I don't believe it has been reblued. The frame does have a slightly different color than the frame. One or the other may have been replaced at some time. Thank you all for the information, I'll see if I can locat a correct set of grips.

I wouldn't bother with those ugly old "Coltwood" plastic grips. They shrink and warp and crack. Your present walnut is nicer.

May be a refinish. Weren't the sides of the hammer white at the time?

I have a slightly later one (SN 317632-C). The differences I see from this one to yours are: Sides of the hammer are in the white as Hawk Carse noted, grips should be the plastic "Coltwood" with the pony in the circle. Trigger is short black. Frame, slide, and all small parts are the same color/finish. I would suspect a reblue of the frame but really can't tell for sure from the pictures. Definitely some mismatch of parts and finish.
