Hey guys. No clue what this is. The only other piece I've seen the word Tons on is an Enfield. Is this English? Anyone know the following?

Who made it?
What is it?
When was it made?
Where was it made?
Value? (I know this is opinionated...gimme yours if you would!)

Thanks so much!

I'm no expert but it looks a lot like a Webley pistol. Maybe those who know more will chime in shortly.

Enfield 2, imported by the boatload in early 1960s by Seaport Traders of CA, who had barrels shortened to the snubby by Mr. L. M. Johnson of 13440 Burbank Boulevard, Van Nuys, Calif. They sold for less than $20 back then. Same company that shipped Lee Harvey Oswald his revolver.

    It's an Enfield pistol.
The original enamel paint finish has been stripped off, and the barrel has been shortened. Cal. is .38 S&W

I agree it's a #2 Mark 1**, but I have never seen markings similar to the ones on the frame just behind the trigger. They are quite puzzling? If I had to take a wild guess, they are perhaps from India, although I wasn't aware that Enfield knock-offs were made there?

EDIT #1, Photo below is of a standard W W II Enfield revolver as made in England during the war. The barrel length is standard for all the original military issue Enfields.

It is an Enfield. I paid $35.00 for one in better shape a few months back.

Sorry, but that's a fable created by the U.S. importer, and 11b6r's
    answer is the correct one.
