I want to mount a scope on my Romanian training rifle. Any suggestions on where I can get mounts, to fit the narrow grooves, would be appreciated. Thanks
Phil

If none of our folks can help you check out the Rimfire Central site. These Romanian training rifles are a popular topic over there.

Don't be making any permanent alterations to the rifle like D & T'ing, unless you absolutely have to though. I have seen to many of the older military rifles ruined, collector value wise by folks doing this over the years.

There are some rings out there by Kwik-Site (??) that are supposed to fit. Be advised that the rails vary in size from one rifle to another. I've had to modify rings in order for them to fit. I suggest that when you buy rings, buy some that can be cut down or reshaped to suit your needs.
As for drilling and tapping, the rifle is only worth $125-ish. D&T can't make it less. If I could justify it, I'd get mine drilled.

Ditto Rdrsgtl. Had to remake mine also. Best if can find aluminum
mounts and file away metal on the rail mount a couple file strokes at a time until you get a good bite.

The Kwik-Site claw type rings work very well on the Romanian .22's. You can find them for less than $20. It is a see through type ring that puts the scope a little high, but they do work very well.

    Good luck, Don
