Why Cynergy cheaper than Citori?

This may be more of a gun industry Marketing question. But I seem to be able to find new Browning Cynergys cheaper than the equivalent Citoris. Why is that? I have the Cynergy Classic Field and it seems to be every bit as good as the famous Citori. Or am I missing something?

IMHO it is because. The traditional shotgun guys don't like the LOOKS of the CYNERGY .Just like many of the older Blued steel and wood stock rifle guys . I am an old guy set in my ways and will never own a SS firearm or plastic pistol or Non wood gun stock. Or after being in Vietnam in 1965-1966 ever own a AR platform firearm.

Agree with PS on part one, they just don't LOOK like a nice shotgun to many people so Browning and the distributors are having to cut the price.
Part two, it is a recent design engineered for economical manufacture (as O/U shotguns go) so they are able to cut the price without getting hurt too bad.

I have heard that the Miroku plant was hard hit by the quake and tsunami, so many models of Browning might be in short supply for a while.

That's what I thought, that traditional O/U owners just don't like the looks of it. That being the case I'm thinking it makes the Cynergys a better price/quality value than the Citoris. And the Cynergy Classic (vs. the original "European") line doesn't look all that "wild".

    Howdy Honk,

Yep, I'm old school, too-- won't even look at a car that's not at least 30yrs old, no matter all the bells, whistles, future-esq styles, etc. The lines are just aren't there no more, much less hefty steel & chrome, etc.

The Sin, um, Cynergy duplicates that effect upon myself, too. Though the Classic tries non too shabbly to be classic. Wouldn't be adverse to see how it handles, though.

All the above is opinion & taste, of course.

Price wise value, yes, but better "quality" value?-- gotta question that idear? Answer I do not know with comparision of the Citori. Yet in general observation, so much these days loses quality when cutting costs is a factor. Hope Browning hasn't jumped aboard that floundering ship??

EDIT Hahaha-- "pipe and a 2x4", love it. Well, the original compare of cost question seems to have been addressed. Yet devil's advocate here just for argument and personal prefernce of looks put aside-- as the Cyn fits Honk and surely with others, and does what is supposed to do functionably wise, with material/design no matter how created, and to do so for years on end as Brownings big brothers have, then good, there's the nitch. Time will tell. And, as long as the already tried and true aren't given the axe... for that would be a sin.

To tell you the truth I initially preferred the looks of the Citori too. But I chose the Cynergy Classic because I liked the way it fit me and the way the sight/rib meets my eye when I mount it.

That is a fairly straight forward question, and here is a straight forward answer.

The Browning Citori, and the Superposed shotguns, are fine shotguns, and examples of what fine gun maker's, and people who put pride in their work, are all about. Quality, fit and finish that are simply superb on average.

The Cynergy is a conglamoration of what a bean counter, and a mis-fit engineer would pipe dream up, of what a shotgun should be. I am surprised they didn't package a 12 gauge pipe, and a 2x4, with a half a page of instructions on how to put it together.

It seems to me that the fine graded wood Cynergy's run about a grand higher than the plas... I mean 'composite' stocked ones. Which makes the wood ones about equal to the Citori's. Still, as noted, they are the next answer on how to cheapen something up and still get people to buy it. They IMO are not on the same par as the Citori.

I said the same thing after packing around an M16A1 for four years from '81-'85. And ya know .... crow doesn't taste all that bad. With a little sweet and sour sauce on one side and some hot sauce for the other, it's quite palatable. You do have to marinate it in milk for a while beforehand though, to get that funky 'whatever!?' taste out of it.[}:)][:D]

    And Tim,

You forgot to mention the moustrap with a string for a firing mechanism....[:D]
